A lot of great quotes here Matt! So true: What our kids need most are parents who are present and willing to build daily and weekly rhythms that will point their kids to Christ. 🔥
I love this post, and just forwarded it to my daughter and son-in-law with a note encouraging them to establish these type rhythms into their parenting of my two young granddaughters. Thank you for taking the time to write/share!
Thank you for that encouragement! I pray it blesses them and gives them guidance on how to guide your grandkids well. Thank you for reading and sharing!
Excellent advice gentlemen. I understand that each family dynamic can be a little different, but this is a great place to start. We get so little time with our children and it all goes by so quickly. I always need the reminder to be more faithful in how I'm helping to form the faith of my family.
You are so right. All families are different. We each have to find what works for us. I hope this article inspires others to find their rhythms that make sense for their family dynamics. May we just be faithful to point our kids to Christ each day.
Amazing! My kids are older now, but we tried to do some of the things you mentioned and when you bring them in like that, it pays off. Even when we went through tough things, we didn't just pretend everything was ok. We prayed with our kids. We let them ask their tough questions. I feel like we grew closer in the tough times as we came together and honestly talked about what was going on, prayed together, and pulled together. What a great post!
Excellent example of family discipleship. There's not a book around this topic I haven't read (that I know of). Getting more pumped by your note about writing out a full book on this topic.
Don't have time now, but by and large we practice all these as well. Discipleship in the family is our first priority, from there all the rest of our ministry flows.
Thankful for your guys example and leadership here.
Thank you so much, AJ! It’s been on my heart for a long time, and I think the more I write on here each week, the more that desire grows. Something I’m praying through more and more.
I’m so happy to have found a substack space that shares the integration of family, God, and faith. That is the same foundation I’m learning to build from too. This brought me joy. Excited to follow along 🤍

It can make all the difference in the world if we will be consistent and intentional.

Rhythms over resolutions. That's genius!!
That’s been my mantra for this year!

Amen. We faithfully steward the responsibility and keep going as we do it together!

That’s great. A testimony to rhythms and consistency over time!
